– This task was about marketing and should be transcreation according to context. Translations needed to conform to Chinese readers’ feelings.

Translation word by word would be unacceptable.

– Persons’ name should be bilingual with format: Chinese (Deutsch).

– Please add a space between number/English words and Chinese.

Challenges:

Quality was very important for this work as it will be printed and published.

Our solution:

Our DTP Engineers helped make editable MS Word with two columns from PDF.

Our Project Manager imported editable MS Word into Trados studio and assigned this order to our long-time cooperation translator with 8 years of experience who was specialized in both automobile and Marketing.

Glossary table with 30 terms was requested before translation for keeping terms consistency. We sent Glossary table to customer to check the accuracy and then Project Manager converted Glossary table into TB in Studio after customer’s confirmation. Source Package, reference files and instructions were sent to translator for translation.

When the first translator submitted translation to Project Manager, files were QA with Verify in Studio and then ran X-bench by Project Manager.

Both QA report and translated files were sent to the second reviewer to edit translation compared with source. Of course, wrong items in QA report should be corrected firstly and then reviewed sentence by sentence.

After that, our Project Manager assigned reviewed files to our linguist to polish the expressions according to context and pictures.

After DTP, client sent us PDF for layout checking.

Customer was very satisfied with our work for this case. Firstly, they only issued us projects from German to Simplified Chinese (Mandarin), after this case, they started to assign us translations from German to Traditional Chinese Taiwan, German to Japanese, German to Korean, German to Thai, English to Simplified Chinese, English to Japanese, English to Korean, English to Thai, Japanese to English, Chinese to American English and Chinese to British English. We always arranged projects to our long-term cooperation native translators for target language. Now, they became one of our VIP customers and had steady monthly projects.
